Below are descriptions of the modalities I integrate into a massage session.

Swedish massage

A relaxing massage for general relaxation, stress reduction, or for relief of muscular tension. This style helps to increase circulation, oxygen, and nutrients to the skin, muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments. It can be a light to firm pressure depending on preference. Great for stress relief, after a workout, or for general aches and pains.

Deep Tissue/Muscle Therapy

A massage focusing on a specific muscle and the tendons. Used for chronic area of pain and tightness to increase circulation, release muscular contraction, and increase nutrients and oxygen to the muscles for improved range of motion.

Myofascial release

Fascia is a connective tissue just under the skin covering the entire

body, muscle groups, and muscle fibers, which is done with open palm, skin rolling, or a gentle holding to help hydrate, relax restrictions, and tightness in the fascia. This is great for postural imbalances and chronic pain relief. Many clients feel taller with improved range of motion.

Trigger Point Therapy

Using a light to medium pressure on a "trigger point" or area of pain and tightness to soften the fascia, or connective tissue and release the contracted muscle to increase circulation clearing any congestion in the tissue. This is great for a chronic area of discomfort or "knot."

Sports Massage

Great for before and after athletic activities, or general stiffness. Deep tissue focus on overused muscles, passive stretches, with strain counter strain stretches , and compressions. This can be incorporated into a massage session or loose fitted clothes.

Craniosacral Therapy

A very gentle therapy of holding a light touch under the head, on the shoulders, low back, sacrum, or feet that brings about a deeply restful mental state, calming the nervous system, body and mind. This can be incorporated into a massage therapy session or for a one hour session fully clothed.

Prenatal and post-partum massage

For the relief of muscular pain in low back, sacrum, shoulders, or legs that may occur during pregnancy. This is done is side line position with pillows after the first trimester. Postpartum massage focuses on the relief of muscular discomfort from labor and delivery, neck and shoulder tension from holding and nursing a newborn, or for general relaxation.

Yoga

An introduction to gentle basic asanas or poses to strengthen and lengthen the body along with breathing exercises that can be done in the comfort of your home or office for daily practice. Adjustments may be done during a yoga session as to insure the client's comfort level when doing any yoga pose. Yoga can enhance the mind body connection while relieving back pain, improving postural imbalances, and promoting relaxation.

Reiki

A Japanese healing modality developed by Mikao Usui to help restore and balance your energy and calm your nervous system. Many people go into a deeply restorative meditative state and feel very rested but energized after the treatment. Reiki is great for anyone experiencing fatigue, stress, anxiety, depression, or just a time to relax and restore your mind and body.
